Happy birthday, Ron!

It's an important date in a young man's life. I certainly wish that I could be there with you (as well as your father), but we'll have a proper belated celebration the next time the train brings you home.

(Do let me know if this morning's owl arrives safely, won't you? You won't recognise it--I hired one at the public owl office that specialises in delivering packages that are fragile. I trust I wrapped it well enough, too.)

Um. On the back of the watch, there's a motto. Did you have it put there or was it already on when you got it? It's something like 'Drive Because You're Driven,' right? So... something about working hard at stuff? or... I don't know. Does it mean something else?

There are some who say it's the Weasley family motto, although there has been some disagreement about that among the various branches. (Arthur didn't have it on his own watch, since his came from his maternal grandfather's family.)

Really, dear, I think it means whatever you want it to mean.

Huh. That's wizard, actually.

Sally Anne thinks it means 'Whatever You Do, Do It Well'. Or she says it could even mean, 'Go On With What You're Doing.' That's what I'm trying to do, y'know. So I'm going to think that's what it means.

Huh, I'd heard the Weasley family motto was Repulsae Nescia, which means Ignorant of Defeat.

That's one of the other candidates for the motto, I think.

I chose the inscription for the watch that I did because, well, it just seemed to fit.

(Oh, by the way: Ron, you'll note that the first link on the chain is a little larger and a slightly different shape than the rest of the watch chain. That's because it was taken from the links of Arthur's watch chain. I gave the other boys links from it to attach to their watches as well.)
