It's an important date in a young man's life. I certainly wish that I could be there with you (as well as your father), but we'll have a proper belated celebration the next time the train brings you home.

(Do let me know if this morning's owl arrives safely, won't you? You won't recognise it--I hired one at the public owl office that specialises in delivering packages that are fragile. I trust I wrapped it well enough, too.)

(Well, the biscuits I included are a little fragile, but you know what I mean. Tell me if you like them! They're a new recipe to me, and the first tray out of the oven was awfully popular up here -- I had to beat people back to save enough to send to you and I'm glad I planned on making a double batch -- but I'm not sure if that means the biscuits are that good or my coworkers are that desperate.)

And thanks for robes and the boots. The robes are dead amazing. I'll have witches following me everywhere!

I mean, they fit well and the leather's just right, innit? I always wanted dragoneers' kit! And, yeah, I know it's practical and protective and all that, but it also just looks wizard.

The boots fit, too, and I'm sure I'll get good use of them for CCF exercises and trekking. That sort of thing.

I did! We're in the winter slump, so everyone's cooking or baking or doing crafts. I usually have half a stone extra to lose by the time spring rolls around again, but fortunately breeding season usually runs it straight off me.

And I'm glad you like the kit. With all the outdoor work you've been doing, it seemed like something you could really use. They're a little beat up, but that just makes them even better, yeah?

Really, I don't have any more to say, but I thought I should maybe say something under the lock. So if you wanted to say anything, y'know, locked, you'd notice that first thing wasn't.

I have a hard time with that sometimes. I mean, I worry about making a mistake with it. If you know what I mean.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I always triple check what I'm saying when I'm writing, just to be certain. It's nerve-wracking, all right.

Anyway, I'm glad you liked the biscuits. Mum, I never thought that as a dragonkeeper I'd be using all those kitchen spells you taught us, but the food in the dining hall used to be just so bad that a few years back we ganged up on the cook and told him he'd better let us into the kitchens, and now we've got a nice rotation going -- everyone winds up cooking supper about once a month or so, and anyone can bake something anytime they want. So, yeah, if you want more treats, I'll see what I can do!
