I wondered whether it would give Ginny more time, a better chance of survival, if I gave Bellatrix what she wants. All the signs of agony, of desperation, helpless rants, that kind of thing?
But then I realised no, I can't do that. It would only help to destroy everything we've been working for with the Order, to demonstrate to everyone that Bellatrix is right, that everyone has to fold in the face of the pain she can dish out. And that she'll always win because her capacity for causing pain is limitless.
Which means that the best chance I have of cutting Ginny's pain short would be convincing Bellatrix I refuse to dance to her piping. I won't do everything I can to save my own daughter.
And Bellatrix will undoubtedly inform her of that, right before she kills her.
